OK, so it's December. And that means a lot of people who work in religious organizations are even busier than usual. But how come so many of them feel like the life is being sucked out of them during the OTHER 11 months of the year, too??
Too many faith-based organizations are captive to the consumable practices that have characterized life and work in this modern industrial era. We recognize them by their valiant but exhausting efforts to fill-in-the-blank for the sake of doing what they think they're called to do. You know how it works:
If we only had ______________________ (e.g., more money, more members, etc.),
then we could (e.g., be more effective, grow, etc.).
If you're a faith-based leader, filling-in-the-blank in the midst of this economic and cultural climate is probably becoming more and more difficult. It's time to begin making the shift from a consumable to a renewable way of doing life, work, and ministry together. It's time, in other words, to learn how to be who you are and see what you have for the sake of doing what matters.
Let 2010 be the year you decided to start making this shift.
Beginning on January 14th, we're offering a brand new six-session ONLINE workshop that will teach you how to help your congregation or faith-based organization shake off The Great Excuse of “if-only” thinking so that you can more joyfully and more consistently do what matters.
Participants in "Seeing With New Eyes: An Online Workshop" will learn the emergent principles behind the PAWN Process. This organic, emergent process strategy is a simple but life-changing way of:
- Listening together for God’s direction through scripture, the things you hear from your neighbors, and the things you say to each other;
- Discovering all of the possibilities that emerge at the place where your assets, needs and passions converge with those of your neighbors’;
- Creating an umbrella strategy (i.e., purpose, principles, and strategic directions ) for your ministry.
Participants will also receive a free copy of the book "Seeing Through New Eyes: The PAWN Process for Faith-Based Groups."
This online course will include six hours of webinar presentations and live online chats. We'll also be using an online social networking site to help participants collaborate on projects, share resources, and network with others who are working to making the shift from a consumable to a renewable way of doing life and work together. In fact, you can visit this site now – we've posted the prototype of a syllabus for the workshop. It's a prototype because participants will be invited to help give it final shape. You can also have a look at the syllabus here.
The schedule includes:

- January 19 – Live Online Chat Session #1
- January 21 – Live Webinar #2
