At a time when so many people feel overwhelmed and anxious about what they don't have anymore, Sook Lee, a Korean grocery owner living in Winnipeg, Canada, has a few things to teach us. It's hard to imagine a more difficult path than the one Ms. Lee has been traveling. But along the way she has found a community of people to support her, an inner strength she never knew she had, and steadfast friends in the most unlikely places.
Catherine Pate (photo), one of A.R.E.'s newest teammates, produced this inspiring story about Sook Lee and the people who are helping her find new life in a new land. In fact, it's Catherine's voice you hear narrating the story. It aired on
CBC radio at the end of last month.
The story's long for radio - about 6 minutes. But the folks at CBC loved it so much they ran it as is. Get a cup of coffee and settle in for a great story about seeing possibilities even in the midst of life's troubles.
Catherine has spent the last ten years working in the areas of creative communication, publishing, policy and program development. We are thrilled to have her gifts on our team!
